Bollywood's former old couple Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan are back at news for their old love tale. Many of us know that Salman was not the cuddly one and is known for his violent behaviour towards his lady love. 

This 1990s old love affair was once talk of the town. Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai's affair started during the shooting of their film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999 and ended tragically in 2002. 

The couple were madly in love with each other. However in the year 2001, things started to fall apart. 

According to sources, in November 2001, eyewitnesses said that Salman once came to Aishwarya's apartment and kept banging on the door, asking to be let in. It is also learnt that he had threatened to commit suicide if she doe not open the door and let him in. The nuisance continued till 3am in the morning where the actress finally let him in. There are reports that due to continuos banging the door, Salman hand started bleeding. 

The whole drama was because of Aishwarya's refusal to Salman's marriage proposal as the actress was at the peak of her career. 

Speaking at an interview, Salman later said that Aishwarya wasn't responding and returning his love and that he was forced to turn violent. "If you won't fight, that means there is no love between you, I will not fight with an outsider, when we fight, it is all because of our love."

When this is the one side of the story, the other side accroding to few sources says that it was Salman Khan who went to USA without informing Aishwarya to meet his Ex-Girlfriend Somy Ali to help her out with some issues. This did not go well with the actress and the couple got into a fight which damaged thier relationship.

Later, in 2002, Aishwarya confirmed her breakup with Salman. She said that he wasn't able to come to terms with it. "He would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected that I was having affairs with my co-stars. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks and I would go to work as if nothing happened," she sadi in an interview to a magazine.

Reacting to the actress statement, Salman said, "I have never raised hand on her. I get emotional and hurt myself. Infact I have banged my head against the wall, but I cannot hurt anyone else."
