Aliya Fakhri, sister of Bollywood actor Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested in New York for allegedly setting fire to a garage in Queens, causing the deaths of her ex-boyfriend Edward Jacobs, 35, and his friend Anastasia Ettienne, 33. The incident occurred on November 2 in Jamaica, Queens.

According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, Aliya, 43, reportedly shouted, “You’re all going to die today,” before setting the fire. Jacobs, who lived above the garage, was asleep when the fire erupted, and Ettienne perished attempting to save him. Both victims died of smoke inhalation and burns.

Aliya faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and arson, and could face life imprisonment if convicted. Her mother has expressed shock, citing Aliya’s struggles with opioid addiction as a possible factor. The case has drawn widespread attention, with condolences pouring in for the victims.
