In a shocking turn of events, Anuj Thapan, one of the accused arms suppliers in the firing case outside actor Salman Khan's house, has died by suicide while in police custody. Thapan, aged 32, was arrested from Punjab on April 26 and was found dead in a police lock-up today.

Thapan, who was detained along with another accused, Sonu Subhash Chander, allegedly provided the weapons used in the firing incident outside Salman Khan's Mumbai residence on April 14. The circumstances leading to Thapan's suicide are currently under investigation.

According to sources, Thapan took the extreme step by hanging himself in a toilet attached to the police lock-up around 11 am. He was reportedly housed with 10 other inmates and was under the guard of four to five policemen at the time of the incident.

Former senior police officer PK Jain emphasized that any death in police custody is treated as a murder case, and all policemen present at the station will be questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Jain also highlighted that police procedures typically involve checking lock-ups for any objects that could be used for self-harm.

The incident adds complexity to the ongoing investigation into the firing case, which involved two other suspects, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who are currently in police custody. Gupta and Pal were captured on CCTV leaving the area on a motorcycle on the night of the incident.

All four accused are believed to have connections with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is involved in various criminal activities according to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Mumbai Crime Branch has identified Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi as the prime suspects in the case, following the discovery of strong evidence against them last month.

The developments in the Salman Khan house firing case continue to unravel as investigators delve deeper into the connections and motivations behind the incident. With Thapan's death raising questions about the circumstances leading to his suicide, authorities are under pressure to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter.
