Bengaluru, Karnataka. A potluck of Indian Culture where women are not safe ?

In a distressing incident that has shaken Bangalore, a 21-year-old college student was allegedly raped by an unidentified man in the HSR Layout area during the early hours of August 18, 2024. The victim, who is not originally from Karnataka, was reportedly on her way back home after a night out in Koramangala when the incident occurred.
The young woman had initially hired an auto-rickshaw, which met with an accident, leaving her stranded. Subsequently, she accepted a ride from a biker, who promised to take her home. Instead of heading towards her destination, the biker diverted to an isolated area in HSR Layout where he allegedly assaulted her.
The incident took place around 1 AM, and the victim’s friends, who received an emergency message with her location, rushed to the scene. They found her in a distressed state, partially clothed, and immediately took her to a hospital for medical attention. Her condition is currently stable.
Bangalore police have registered a case under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. Multiple teams have been formed to track down the perpetrator. The police are hopeful of making an arrest soon and are gathering all possible evidence, including statements from the victim and her friends, as well as CCTV footage from the area.
This incident has once again raised concerns about women's safety in Bangalore, particularly in areas that are less monitored during late hours. The case has drawn widespread attention, with many calling for stronger measures to protect women in the city
