Mangaluru to get flights to Pune, Delhi

Mangaluru will most likely have flight service to Pune for the first time later this month.

IndiGo has proposed a new route from Mangaluru to Pune with five moves per week, according to the tentative summer timetable 2022, which will take effect on March 27.

SpiceJet also intends to resume its daily direct flight service between Mangaluru and Delhi.

Mangaluru and Mumbai will be connected directly by Air India.

Mangaluru is currently served by IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India, and GoFirst, with flights to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Coimbatore.

IndiGo is the most popular airline, with 57 weekly flights linking Mangaluru to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

SpiceJet offers eight flights, four to Bengaluru and four to Hyderabad, Air India has seven flights to Coimbatore, and GoFirst has six flights to Mumbai.

IndiGo's weekly movements will increase to 82, covering five destinations — Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Pune; SpiceJet's will increase to 21 – all to Bengaluru; Air India will remain at seven – all direct to Mumbai rather than via Coimbatore (as it does now); and GoFirst will increase to 14 – all to Mumbai, according to the tentative summer schedule announced by airlines.

The total number of weekly aircraft movements will increase from 78 to 124.

The extra flights are intended to increase passenger traffic in the coastal city. In February 2022, the airport handled 1,03,273 passengers.
