K Kavitha Arrested, Alleges Abuse of Power

BRS leader K Kavitha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from her Hyderabad residence in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. She was presented at the Rose Avenue court in New Delhi, where her lawyer argued that the arrest was an abuse of power by the agency.

The arrest, termed illegal by Kavitha, was followed by medical tests after her arrival in Delhi. The ED sought custody for custodial interrogation, citing sufficient evidence against the former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's daughter.

Reacting to her arrest, Kavitha's brother, former Telangana minister KT Rama Rao, criticized the BJP government, alleging abuse of power and institutional misuse for settling political scores. He questioned the timing of the arrest, which coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Hyderabad and the completion of 100 days of the Congress government in the state.

The financial probe agency's arrest of Kavitha came amidst protests by her supporters outside her residence in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The arrest, just weeks before the Lok Sabha polls, raised questions about the timing and motivations behind the action.

The case against Kavitha is linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy and involves allegations of money laundering. The ED's actions have drawn criticism from various quarters, with Kavitha's lawyer describing it as a "classic case of abuse."

Kavitha's arrest underscores the ongoing political tensions in Telangana and the broader debate surrounding the misuse of power by government agencies. As the case unfolds, there are calls for transparency and accountability in the investigation process to ensure justice prevails.

The developments surrounding K Kavitha's arrest highlight the need for a fair and impartial judicial system that upholds the rule of law. With the matter set to be reviewed by the Supreme Court in the coming days, all eyes will be on the legal proceedings to determine the truth behind the allegations leveled against her.
