Threats Escalate: Woman Who Protested Hindu Gods' Insult Faces Backlash

In a distressing turn of events, a woman, who raised her voice against the insult to Hindu Gods at a Mangaluru private school, now faces threats and harassment. The contact number and family photos of the victim, a mother and teacher, have been circulated on social media, leading her to seek protection from the Kankanady police.

The victim, whose daughter attends the school in question, revealed that she began receiving threatening calls from international numbers since February 15. The situation escalated as she became the target of blame in a viral social media post, which held her responsible for the protests against the school.

The woman, troubled by the continuous threats, emphasized that her speaking out was a response to a teacher's inappropriate comments during a moral science class. The teacher allegedly made derogatory remarks about Hindu Gods, including demeaning comments about Lord Sri Ram.

The victim's distress is further compounded by abusive audio clips and threatening calls originating from locations like Qatar, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and other countries. She expressed her reluctance to answer international calls, recounting the ordeal her family faced when her husband responded to one of the calls.

Amidst this turmoil, the Sebastian School, where the woman was employed as a teacher, took the controversial step of terminating her employment. The decision to sack her was attributed to her statements to the media regarding the incident at the St. Gerosa Higher Primary School near Jeppu in Mangaluru.

The alleged derogatory remarks were made by a teacher identified as Sister Prabha during a moral science class. The incident has sparked controversy and protests against the school, leading to the victim's decision to raise awareness about the inappropriate comments.

The victim's plea for police protection underscores the serious consequences of her decision to speak out against the insult to Hindu Gods. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges individuals face when confronting sensitive issues that touch upon religious sentiments.

The harassment faced by the victim on social media, coupled with her termination from the school, raises concerns about the broader implications of such incidents on freedom of expression and the right to dissent. The police investigation into the threats and the circumstances surrounding the teacher's termination will likely shed light on the complexities of navigating religious sensitivities within the education system.
