New Delhi: Air India planes flying to Ukraine to take Indians home after saying Ukraine closed airspace during a Russian military operation in an eastern secession area to Delhi I'm back. Thousands of Indians are waiting to return from Ukraine in a conflict with Russia. Air India flights have decided to return to Delhi after notifying Notam or Airmen on all flights to Ukraine. The government said alternative evacuation routes would be activated. Given the large-scale military operations in eastern Ukraine, the chaotic nature of the airspace puts commercial flights at very high risk and can be crowded with military anti-aircraft operations.
In July 2014, a Malaysia Airlines plane was shot down during a fierce battle between Ukrainian troops and pro-Russian separatists, killing all 298 people on board. Investigators suspect that the plane was shot down by a Russian-made BUK anti-aircraft missile launched from eastern Ukraine.
