Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka To Visit Sant Ravidas Temple In UP Today

On the occasion of Sant Guru Ravidas' birth anniversary on Wednesday, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will pay a visit to the Ravidas Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
On Wednesday morning, the Congress leader will pay his respects at Seer Goverdhanpur.

Notably, the Punjab Assembly elections were postponed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) due to Guru Ravidas' birth anniversary.

Earlier, the state was scheduled to hold elections on February 14.

The political parties, including the BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party, requested that the date be changed because Guru Ravidas followers would be unable to vote if elections were held two days before the festival because they would be on an annual pilgrimage to Varanasi on the Guru's birth anniversary.

In addition, Assembly elections are being held in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi will campaign in Uttar Pradesh today as part of her visit to the state. She will campaign door-to-door in Kanpur Cantt and Kidwai Nagar. Following that will be a door-to-door campaign in Sisamau and Arya Nagar. She will then take part in the Mahila Shakti Garjana in Kanpur's Govindnagar.

Uttar Pradesh's seven-phased Assembly elections began on February 10. The election has been completed in two stages. The third phase of the UP elections will take place on February 20.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a visit to the Guru Ravidas Vishram Dham temple in Delhi's Karol Bagh on Wednesday to commemorate Ravidas Jayanti.
