Bajaj previously served in the Rajya Sabha. He was also the chairman of the World Economic Forum's International Business Council.
Bajaj was one of corporate India's longest-serving chairmen.
He was twice elected president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). From 1979 to 1980, and again from 1999 to 2000, Bajaj was president of the CII.
