Delhi govt to build electric vehicle charging stations at all state
The Delhi government has directed all of its departments, autonomous local governments, and bodies to find suitable locations and install public electric vehicle charging stations on their property. Empanelled vendors are eligible for a subsidy of Rs 6,000 per charging point. Government employees will be able to charge their electric vehicles (EVs) during work hours, according to Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot. Electric vehicles are being aggressively promoted throughout Delhi in order to realise Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's vision. "Electric vehicle charging stations are being built quickly in Delhi," he said, adding that they will now be installed in all government offices.
"In addition to government employees, the general public will be able to charge their vehicles here," the minister added.
Furthermore, the heads of Delhi government departments may contact their respective DISCOM and indicate the locations where such charging infrastructure will be installed. The government departments that install the chargers at their premises through this process will receive the chargers net of subsidy and will not have to file a separate subsidy claim. Meanwhile, the vendors would apply for the subsidy from the transport department's electric vehicle fund through DISCOM.
The Delhi transport department has also made a guidebook available to assess the department's EV charging needs in terms of the number of chargers.
All heads of government departments are hereby directed to ensure the installation of EV charging stations on the premises of respective government buildings, particularly those with high public dealings, within three months to promote electric mobility, according to a government notification. According to an official statement, electric vehicle sales in Delhi outperformed CNG and diesel vehicle sales in the September-November quarter. EV sales in Delhi increased by 9.2% between September and November 2021. CNG vehicle sales, on the other hand, fell by 6.5% in November. During this time, a total of 9,540 electric vehicles were sold.
