Four Newborns killed in fire accident

Bhopal : In a tragic incident, four newborns lost thier life after a fire outbreak at a government hospital in Bhopal. The fire swept through a special unit of the Kamala Nehru Children's Hospital.

Speaking to the media, State Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang said, "Four children died in the fire that broke out in the special newborn care unit (SNCU) ward probably due to a short circuit. We reached the spot along with others soon after getting information about the incident. It was dark inside the ward. We shifted the children to the adjacent ward."

It is also alleged that the hospitl staff fled leaving the babies behind which caused their death. A woman who was inside the hospital said the ward was enveloped in smoke.

Fatehgarh fire station in-charge Juber Khan told reporters that initial probe suggests that the fire was triggered by a short circuit. However, a detailed probe will establish what actually caused the blaze that started on the third floor of the hospital housing the ICU.

"A high-level probe into the incident has been ordered. The probe will be conducted by additional chief secretary (ACS) health and medical education, Mohammad Suleiman," the Chief Minister said in another tweet.

He has announced a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh for the family members of the victims.
