Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's father Anand Bisht died on Monday at the age of 89, was admitted to the gastroenterology department of the AIIMS after his health deteriorated.

Bisht, was admitted to the gastroenterology department of the AIIMS. His condition was critical, sources at the hospital said. he was undergoing treatment at AIIMS for the past one month against a long illness. Shishir Singh, Director Information & PR to the government of Uttar Pradesh, tweeted that the news came in the midst of a meeting. "The news of his father breathing his last came to him in midst of the meeting . Unfazed by the news @myogiadityanath stood up only after completing the meeting on COVID-19," he wrote in a tweet.

He died at 10.44 am, according to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi.

Bisht's last rites will take place in Haridwar in Uttarakhand on April 21, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Mrityunjay Kumar said.
