Police Vigil for Mukhtar Ansari's Wife at Last Rites

Despite being on the run and topping the UP Police's list of 'lady dons', Afsa Ansari, the wife of deceased gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari, might bid her final farewell to him at the burial ground on Friday.
In anticipation of her presence, the UP Police has reinforced security measures at the family's ancestral graveyard in Ghazipur's Mehmoodabad. Officers in plain clothes have been deployed to closely monitor the area and prevent any potential law and order disturbances. Omveer Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Ghazipur, emphasized the need for vigilance, particularly regarding Afsa's movements.
Mukhtar Ansari passed away due to cardiac arrest at UP's Banda Medical College on Thursday. He was transferred from Banda District Jail after his health deteriorated, but despite medical intervention, he succumbed to the cardiac event.
Afsa Ansari has been evading law enforcement for over a year and carries a reward of Rs 75,000 on her head. She faces multiple charges, including those under the Gangster Act. Despite the increased bounty on her, the police have yet to apprehend her.
Describing herself as a homemaker, Afsa is implicated in several significant cases, including land grabbing incidents in Chhavni line and Babeddi locality in 2019. Additionally, she faces charges under the Gangster Act, with a case registered against her at Mau's Dakshin Tola Police Station on January 31, 2022.
Afsa's family has a history of involvement in criminal activities across various districts of UP. Both her brothers, Atif Raza alias Sharjil Raza and Anwar Shahzad, are reportedly fugitives. She is also a mother of two sons, Abbas and Umar.
As Mukhtar Ansari's funeral proceedings take place, the spotlight remains on Afsa Ansari's potential attendance and the efforts of law enforcement to ensure public safety amidst her status as a wanted individual
