Kishan and Iyer capture the day in India's first T20I against Sri Lanka

Before a superb bowling performance helped India demolish Sri Lanka in the first T20I at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer both hit fifty. India grabbed a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka with this 62-run victory. Both teams will now face off in the second Twenty20 International on Saturday. Sri Lanka, chasing 200 runs, got off to the worst possible start, losing two wickets in three overs. As Sri Lanka battled in the chase, Bhuvneshwar dismissed both openers Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara.
In the tenth over, Sri Lanka reached 50 runs, but they lost two more wickets. For the visitors, Charith Asalanka scored a fifty, but the asking rate was too high and Sri Lanka lost momentum.
Sri Lanka needed 102 runs in the final four overs to win the first T20I, however they were completely outplayed and lost by a large margin.
India had been given the opportunity to bat first and got off to a flying start because to Ishan's flurry of boundaries, which enabled the hosts reach 47 in five overs.
India got off to a good start, with Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma scoring 58 runs in the powerplay.As India reached 111/1 in the 12th over, Lahiru Kumara withdrew Rohit.
Meanwhile, Ishan continued to toil and pushed India's total above 150 runs, but he was removed by Shanaka in the 17th over.
Finally, Shreyas and Ravindra Jadeja put together an undefeated 44-run stand to enable India to a huge 199/2 total.
