2nd T20I Preview: India's Clinical Team Aims To Win The West Indies Series

India will now hope that star batsman Virat Kohli can recapture his form when they face a faltering West Indies in the potentially series-deciding second T20 International today in Kolkata. The visiting West Indies team hasn't been at its best so far, unable to threaten the hosts in any of the games. After being outclassed 0-3 in the ODI leg in Ahmedabad, the Kieron Pollard-led team was anticipated to give India a run for its money in the T20 format, especially after a 3-2 series win over England at home. However, they failed to trouble the hosts in the opening T20I on Wednesday in Kolkata, losing by six wickets.
Another win for Rohit Sharma, who has been named full-time captain of Team India, and it will be his third series win in a row.

Kohli's form has been India's lone concern, and he'd like a larger knock than the 8, 18, 0, and 17 he's received thus far in the assignment.
Rohit is confident in his abilities and has requested that both criticism and the media refrain from scrutinising him.
Rohit, for one, understands the value of going all out in the powerplay, as evidenced by his 19-ball 40, in which he ripped Odean Smith apart in an over that yielded 22 runs.

With Ishan Kishan unable to get going at the other end, Rohit Sharma accounted for the majority of India's 58 runs in the powerplay, ensuring that they never went behind the 158-run target despite losing three wickets in rapid succession.
Kohli had the ideal opportunity to return among runs and seal the chase after Rohit was dismissed in the eighth over. Even while Kohli appeared to be in good form during his 13-ball 17 stay, it was not the case.
His inside-out shot would have been a clean boundary on any other day, but he hit it right to the fielder this time.

Ishan, the most expensive purchase in the IPL 2022 auction, was unable to score freely and failed to rotate strike when Rohit Sharma appeared to be in superb form.
Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer applied themselves superbly to seal the chase, helped to Rohit Sharma's top-order effort.
In-form hitter Shreyas Iyer was forced to sit out the first game because India chose a six-bowler combination containing pace bowling all-rounder Venkatesh.
It remains to be seen what Rohit Sharma's strategy would be in the second T20I, which might decide the series' outcome.

"We were quite explicit with Shreyas, telling him that the team wants him to be an all-rounder at the World Cup. We need that middle option, someone who can bowl "After the game, Rohit stated.
"The playing XI, the opposition, the weather, and the dimensions of the field are all factors to consider. Yes, the guys missing out can be difficult at times, but we want to make sure we're sending a clear message. Unfortunately, we wish to prioritise the team." India would also be concerned by the injury of pacer Deepak Chahar, who was injured during fielding and was unable to finish his quota.

It would be a make-or-break match for the Windies, who are looking for their maiden tour triumph.
They'd welcome back fast bowling all-rounder Jason Holder, who missed the first T20I due to a niggle.
"He was hit in the chest during practise and was unable to play in the first game as a precaution. We're hoping he'll be able to play in the next match "a member of the team said
Their vice captain Nicholas Pooran's return to form with the bat was the lone bright spot for them on Wednesday.

After opener Kyle Mayers failed to convert his start, the left-handed wicketkeeper batsman revitalised the Windies innings with a 38-ball fifty.
In the final five overs, Pooran and a fit-again skipper Kieron Pollard picked up the pace, scoring 61 runs to take their total to 157/7.
However, the final score was 15-20 runs lower, refocusing attention on their middle-order troubles, when debutant Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi made life difficult for the visitors.
The West Indies will fancy their chances of keeping the series alive now that Holder is back in action and Pooran and Pollard are looking their ominous best.
